LAHS’s Chloe Keilers Represents New Mexico At National Youth Science Camp

CHARLESTON, W.V. – Chloe Keilers of Los Alamos High School represented New Mexico receently as a delegate to the 2015 National Youth Science Camp® (NYSC).

Keilers joined 100 other top high school graduates representing the United States and eight other countries at the prestigious three and a half week program.

The NYSC, in the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia, integrates scientific programming with opportunities for delegates to explore music, art, and the outdoors.

Los Alamos High School Girls Soccer Tryouts begin Aug. 10

All girls interested in trying out for the high school teams need to report to the LAHS auxiliary gymnasium at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10. This is a mandatory meeting for anyone planning on trying out for the Girls Soccer Team. Also, anyone planning to tryout must have their physical completed and have registered on Family ID.

Tryouts will begin immediately following the meeting so bring running shoes.

Franchesco (Chesco) Valdez, 41, a resident of Los Alamos entered Heavens gates on Saturday, July 18, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Valentin and Fermina Valdez; maternal grandparents, Keith and Pinky Kelley and aunt, Karla Kelley-Zimmerly.

Chesco was a very loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was a very generous, kind, patient and humble man. He adored his wife so much and loved her and his kids with all his heart.

Sewer Line Replacement Underway On Rim Road

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ contractor began work last week to replace a sewer line at the far east end of Rim Road. 

The existing steel sewer line is visible at the mesa’s edge and drops down into Pueblo Canyon. Crews will remove this line and install a new line underground that will extend to a manhole at Graduation Canyon. 

Work is primarily located at the project footprint at the top of the mesa at the end of Rim Road and the bottom of Graduation Canyon where the directional drilling will take place. At times work may occur on adjacent county land at East Park Read More

Anne Chamberlin Siler, the daughter of Barbara Chamberlin of Santa Fe, and David D. Chamberlin of Los Alamos, recently completed her residency training at St. Mary’s Family Medicine Residency in Grand Junction, Colo.

She was honored with the Capstone Scholarship Award, Pediatric Rotation Resident of the Year, and Resident Teacher of The Year.  

Chamberlin Siler is a graduate of Los Alamos High School and Lewis and Clark College. She received her M.D. from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Ore.
