LAHS Softball Plays For The Cure April 11 At Hope Field

The Los Alamos High School and Española Valley High School softball teams invite the community to our inaugural Play for the Cure softball game, Saturday, April 11, at Hope Field at Overlook Park in White Rock. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the game kicking off at 10 a.m.

The Los Alamos High School softball team will wear blue to raise awareness for colon cancer.

The Española Valley High School softball team will wear gray to raise awareness for brain cancer.

New Mexico Invests $1.9M To Expand Youth Outdoor Access

SANTA FE — A $1.9 million investment through the state’s Outdoor Equity Fund will connect over 22,000 youth across 14 counties to 62 programs that promote wellness and expand outdoor access.

Applications for overall FY26 funding surged 141% over the previous year, with 228 organizations requesting $7.8 million in funding against $4 million available.

Groundbreaking April 2 For Magistrate Court In Santa Fe

SANTA FE — A groundbreaking for a new Magistrate Courthouse in Santa Fe will occur at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 2, at 2551 Camino Entrada in the Valdez Industrial Park on the city’s south side.

The three-story, 48,000 square foot courthouse will have six courtrooms, public parking for 100 vehicles with additional parking for jurors and court personnel, and a secure area for temporarily holding and transporting detainees.

Heinrich, Banks, Duckworth Introduce Legislation To Support Veterans’ Continued Education

U.S. SENATE News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sens. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Jim Banks (R-Ind.), and Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) introduced the Veteran Education Assistance Adjustment Act, bipartisan legislation that will increase veterans’ yearly books and supply stipend to $1,500 to keep up with inflation. The bill also increases the supply stipend for veterans enrolled in apprenticeships and pursuing careers in the trades.
