Celebrate New Years Eve in the Valle Grande

Visitors can get an early start on 2013 at the Fourth Annual New Years Eve Fireworks Celebration in the Valle Grande.

The festivities commence at 5 p.m. and include skiing, snowshoeing, bonfires and end beginning at 8 p.m. with a fireworks display.

Ticket reservations are required for all the events and include reserved parking, a skiing/snowshoeing permit, food and a raffle ticket for a door prize.

Bandelier Releases Holiday Schedule

BANDELIER News:

With the new snow, and holidays coming up, the rangers at Bandelier are hoping people will come and enjoy the park.

“Winter days can be beautiful in Bandelier,” Park Superintendent Jason Lott said. “Over the holidays, with everyone looking for places to go with family and friends, we hope they’ll come on down.”

Registration is now open for the YMCA Folkstyle Wrestling Program for Boys and Girls ages 6-18.

This scholastic wrestling program focuses on development of agility, strength, flexibility, and self-confidence in a fun, yet challenging environment.

Folkstyle wrestling is based on controlling an opponent with a series of holds, takedowns, throws, and body position.

Race guides, set-up and registration volunteers are needed to assist with The Family YMCA’s Holiday Half Marathon and Festive 5K set for Dec. 8.

Helpers are asked to call the Y as soon as possible at 662-3100 so staff may plan for needs. Volunteers can work from one to three hours in shifts starting at 7:30 a.m. for this event that will benefit youth programs.
