Evelyn Campbell Swims Into Her 90th Year!

As I was swimming 62 laps to celebrate my 62nd birthday recently, I was stopped suddenly by Kathy the lifeguard who began to serenade me with “Las Mañanitas”, a Spanish birthday song. It brought back memories of a few weeks ago when I heard Kathy singing it to fellow swimmer Evelyn Campbell.

A fundraising event for the Los Alamos High School Boys and Girls Tennis Teams is set for June and August at Mesa Tennis Courts behind Sullivan Football Field. The event is for ages 4-15 (including USTA QuickStart for ages 4-10). 
 
First Date – June 6-10
  • Session 1: (Ages 4-7) 4–5 p.m.
  • Session 2: (Ages 8-15) 5:15–6:45 p.m.

Laura Woodroffe was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held out on West Jemez Road (N.M. 501) with a 3 second differential from her prediction.
 
Other accurate predictors were Chris Michel at 5 seconds off, Roxana Candia with a 21 second difference and the fastest female on the 3 mile road course at 23:24, Sanna Sevanto recording a 22 second differential as well as the top finisher on the 3 mile trail course with a time of 25:52, Zachary Medin at 28 seconds off and the best time on the 3 mile road course recording a 23:22,

Los Alamos Sportsmens Club is hosting the 4th Annual King of the Hill 3D Challenge this weekend starting Friday afternoon and running through Sunday on Pajarito Mountain ski area.
 
There will be live music Saturday night by Dam Union out of Las Cruces. So for all you archers come up and join us or just come up and visit and see what all the fun is about. The mountain will be closed to hiking and biking for the duration of the tournament for safety purposes.

Triatomics Splash n Dash series started Wednesday night. Clay Mosely turned in the overall best time of 27:01 on the long course. At total of 45 athletes participated including four youth. 
 
There will be three more Splash n Dashes this summer. The next one will be held June 22. Registration is from 6:20 to 6:50 at the back of the Aquatic center and the first swimmer starts at 7. The event is free and open to athletes of all abilities and ages.
