SFCC’s Early Childhood Education Program Announces Expanded Financial Support This Fall

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) announces that expanded financial support for students studying Early Childhood Education is available for the Fall and Spring semesters. 

Prospective students are encouraged to enroll now. Eligible students will be able to receive a stipend of up to $2000 after successfully completing a semester of early childhood coursework. Those who already have a bachelor’s degree in another field can qualify for the stipend by enrolling in the Alternative Teacher Licensure program for an Early Childhood Teacher Certification. Join the Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Foundation Sunday, Aug. 21 for the first-time Hilltopper 5K Run.

What better way to support your schools and celebrate Back to School month? The run will be hosted by TCR Productions of Albuquerque, owned by Tom Rojas, a Los Alamos High School alum from the Class of 1972. All proceeds from the race will go to LAPS Foundation to benefit the schools.

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) has named Caron Inglis as the new Healthy Schools Director for the district.

LAPS Students Return To School Wednesday Aug. 10

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) will open its doors for the start of the 2022-2023 school year Wednesday, Aug. 10. 

All elementary school students will have half days for the first three days of school:

  • Wednesday Aug. 10
  • Thursday, Aug. 11
  • Friday, Aug. 12.

School starts at 8:30 a.m., and students will be dismissed at noon. Elementary students attend school 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays beginning Monday, Aug. 15. Wednesdays will continue to be half days, with students dismissed at noon.

ECECD Invests $4.3 Million To Stabilize And Support Vital Early Childhood Services

SANTA FE — Wednesday, the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) announced that it has issued another round of one-time payments to recognize the early intervention and home visiting professionals who continued serving young children and families throughout the pandemic.
