County Website Improvements Begin This Month

COUNTY News:

Starting this month, Los Alamos County is rolling out a series of improvements to the County website to make the site the digital hub of County information.

As of May 21, there is a new design for the website with all information categorized under five main topics: Community, Business, Visit, Government, and Services. Over the next couple of months, the pages under those topics will be organized to make it easier to navigate.

County Opens Online Platform For Local Businesses

In February, Los Alamos County hit the button to make the business and events directories on the Los Alamos County website as well as Visit Los Alamos website go live, providing a platform for local businesses and nonprofits to promote themselves and events at no charge.

Economic Development Project Manager Anita Barela said there are 71 businesses registered on the site, but hopefully more will take advantage of the opportunity.

ACT Announces Temporary Service Suspensions

COUNTY News:

          • Routes 2M and Peak Service on Route 6 and 1 will be suspended beginning Monday June 1

Due to a staff shortage, Atomic City Transit (ACT) will suspend operations of Route 2M and certain peak service trips on Routes 6 and 1 beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, until further notice. The County apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates its riders’ understanding during this time.

Piñon Splash Pad Opening Tomorrow For 2026 Season

COUNTY News: 

Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space Division has announced the Piñon Splash Pad at 10 Sherwood Blvd. in White Rock will open for the season at 10 a.m., Friday, May 22.  

The Splash Pad is operational 10 a.m.–7 p.m., seven days a week, and is scheduled to be open through Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1, 2026.  

Adult supervision is recommended for the Splash Pad area, as this is an unsupervised facility. Athletic or similar equipment is not allowed, and animals are prohibited. Those using the facility are asked not to climb on the water features Read More

In observance of Memorial Day, some Los Alamos County government offices and services will close or have modified hours on Monday, May 25, 2026.

County Shares Detailed Schedule For Piñon Park Pool

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County staff are excited for the opening of Piñon Park Pool, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 23.

Piñon Park Pool will also be open from 1-5 p.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

Staff has shared a more detailed schedule for the 2026 summer season at the facility.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
    • 7-9 a.m. –  Lap swim, 6 lanes
    • 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Lap swim, 6 lanes 
  • 2 lanes are reserved for swim teams Monday through Thursday
    • 12 p.m. to  6 p.m. – Open recreation swim
    • 6-7 p.m. –  Lap swim, 6 lanes
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Open recreation swim and 505 swim lessons
