Los Alamos County staff are excited for the opening of Piñon Park Pool, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 23.
Piñon Park Pool will also be open from 1-5 p.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.
Staff has shared a more detailed schedule for the 2026 summer season at the facility.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- 7-9 a.m. – Lap swim, 6 lanes
- 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Lap swim, 6 lanes
- 2 lanes are reserved for swim teams Monday through Thursday
- 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Open recreation swim
- 6-7 p.m. – Lap swim, 6 lanes
- Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Open recreation swim and 505 swim lessons
There will be no swim teams on Fridays, and no lap swimming on Saturdays.
Piñon Park Pool is open to the public, and Los Alamos County Aquatic Center pass holders can also utilize the facility.
Due to lifeguard staffing shortages, the Leisure Lagoon will be closed on Saturdays and federally observed holidays in order to fully staff Piñon Park Pool, which does provide the public with an additional five hours of access to the water.
The Leisure Lagoon remains open with the following hours and schedule:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- 9-11 a.m. – Fitness Classes
- 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. – General Public and Swim Lessons
- Tuesday and Thursday
- 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. – General Public and Swim Lessons

Lifeguard staffing is critical to ensure the safety of patrons and increase operating hours. Anyone looking for a part-time or full-time job is encouraged to apply. Staff will fully train individuals to be certified lifeguards or recertify those who need recertification.
