Los Alamos Friends of the Shelter (FOS) will have a table in the lobby 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Fuller Lodge Open House event.
Volunteers will be selling FOS 2015 Calendars, pottery, magnets, as well as small beeswax candles that fit perfectly into some of the pots. Volunteers also will have information on dogs and cats available for adoption.

Learn about the extraordinary world of bats in a program at PEEC Tuesday, Dec. 9. Wildlife biologist Justin Stevenson will talk about the biology, ecology, behavior and importance of these beautiful and remarkable mammals. The program begins at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.
Stevenson will show photos and videos to augment a discussion about common misconceptions, current threats to North America’s bat species, and how to become a bat advocate. During the program, there will also be an opportunity to meet two of the 29 insectivorous bat species endemic
