Chamisa Elementary School proudly announces the State of New Mexico’s Elementary Winner for the Youth Art Month Flag/Poster Contest is Yan Kaa Martinez. 

The school celebrates the efforts of all sixth grade creative problem solvers who worked diligently to create posters that exemplified the theme: “Your Art, Your Story.”

Daily Postcard: A small flock of Cedar Waxwings is spotted feasting on berries (even upside down) Thursday at Ashley Pond Park in downtown Los Alamos. According to the Audubon Society, these birds are sociable at all seasons, and it is rare to see just one waxwing. Los Alamos Children’s Dentistry Donates $1,800 To Art Council Kite Festival

Christine Monteith with Los Alamos Arts Council and Dr. Bill Nichols, owner of Los Alamos Children’s Dentistry, hold up a $1,800 check Tuesday at Nichol’s office, 751 Trinity Dr. The money will be used to purchase t-shirts for the arts council’s Kite Festival. The festival is May 18-19 at Overlook Park in White Rock. A dramatic reading of  “Of Butterflies and Roses,” by Claudia I. Haas will take place at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. A reading also will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the White Rock Senior Center.
