Hillstrummers Irene Powell Performs Hula Dance

On the last Friday of the month the Hillstrummers at the Betty Ehart Senior Center strum their ukuleles to the merriment of the crowd, in celebration of monthly birthdays.
 
During July, Hillstrummer and Hula dancer Irene Powell did a celebratory hula dance in honor of her late mother Alice Armour.

The annual Festival of Trees has been announced for 2019.
 
Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) and the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO), have selected Nov. 16 for the 16th annual fundraiser.
 
The themes for community trees for 2019 are “Science,” and “CommUNITY.” Individuals, businesses and organizations wanting to participate by donating trees or ornaments can contact the programs at 505.695.9139.
 
The funds benefit youth and senior programs in the community.

Daily Postcard: Pottery Replica In White Rock

Daily Postcard: One of the six Native American pottery replicas installed in the spring of 2016 along the N.M. 4 corridor through White Rock. This piece photographed Saturday afternoon adjacent to the White Rock Visitor Center, is part of the art project first suggested by the White Rock Master Plan Implementation Committee when the Visitor Center was still under construction. The project concept involved a historical progression of pottery styles associated with San Ildefonso Pueblo, from prehistoric to contemporary.
