Daily Postcard: Pottery Replica In White Rock

Daily Postcard: One of the six Native American pottery replicas installed in the spring of 2016 along the N.M. 4 corridor through White Rock. This piece photographed Saturday afternoon adjacent to the White Rock Visitor Center, is part of the art project first suggested by the White Rock Master Plan Implementation Committee when the Visitor Center was still under construction. The project concept involved a historical progression of pottery styles associated with San Ildefonso Pueblo, from prehistoric to contemporary. The concrete pot forms were produced by the same firm that made the ones in Albuquerque, and a group of San Ildefonso artists, descendants of the original inhabitants of the Pajarito Plateau selected authentic ancestral designs and painted them on the replicas.
