Sept. 20 at 12:33 p.m. / A 38-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that someone burglarized her property in the 700 block of 43rd Street. The estimated loss is unknown.
Sept. 21 at 8:41 p.m. / A Los Alamos man reported that he was the victim of trespassers in the 3200 block of Villa Street.

Over 300 people attended Mozart on the Rocks: Opera at Bandelier. The performance was held at the Bandelier Amphitheater on Saturday night. Despite the threat of rain, lightning and thunder all around the park, the weather remained perfect for the event.

NMDOT Mill & Overlay on NM502 Starts Tuesday
Starting Tuesday, Oct. 2, NM502 (Main Hill Road) to Los Alamos will be closed weekdays and Saturdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. while the NMDOT conducts a milling and overlay pavement rehabilitation project. Work will occur from east of East Gate Drive to the Bayo Canyon access road. Access to the East Gate Industrial Park will be maintained from the townsite.
On Monday, Oct. 8, the roadway will be closed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Weather permitting, the project should be complete by Oct. 14. Motorists should use NM4/East Jemez Road truck route. Read More

The eighth annual Ruby K’s Yum Run is Oct. 27 starting at 8 a.m. with a 5K run/walk and a 10K trail run/walk and at 9:30 a.m. with a 1K fun walk/run.
The event begins and ends at Ruby K’s Bagel Café at 20th Street and Central Avenue and all profits benefit LA Cares.

Firefighters Douse Small Brush and Debris Fire

At approximately 6:25 p.m. this evening, firefighters responded to a small brush fire behind the apartments at 3100 Trinity Dr., west of the Reel Deal Theater. Pine needles, a rug, notepaper and other debris were found burning at the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

On Saturday night, the Reel Deal Theater presented a free screening of the grassroots film Education is Hope. The film was produced locally and filmed in Kenya by Will O’Donnell and Dylan Westfall. Los Alamos County Senior Planner Nancy Cerutti retired Friday following 22 years of service. Kiwanian First Vice President/Event Chair Karen Kendall welcomes nearly 100 people to Saturday night’s “Autumn in Provence” wine dinner fundraiser at the Dixie Girl Restaurant in downtown Los Alamos. The Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos hosted the event, which raised $5,700, including $1,000 scholarship donation by Kurt Steinhaus on behalf of LANS, LLC and Director Charlie McMillan of Los Alamos National Laboratory.
