Over 300 people attended Mozart on the Rocks: Opera at Bandelier. The performance was held at the Bandelier Amphitheater on Saturday night. Despite the threat of rain, lightning and thunder all around the park, the weather remained perfect for the event.

The performance included The Three Sopranos, Jess Cullinan and Heather McCulloch coordinated by local opera singer Alicia Soloman, and accompanied by pianist Brian Huysman.

Ian Ritchie, President of the Guilds Inc. said, “What a wonderful time last night at Bandelier! This can only be counted as a huge success and a feather in the cap for the Los Alamos Opera Guild. I really think your event can serve as a model for the other guilds. I hope that this becomes an annual event. What a great way to introduce people to opera and to The Guilds of The Santa Fe Opera in particular.”

Wendy Lott of the Los Alamos Opera Guild commented that after the singers concluded and the bonfire was extinguished, many people expressed their wish that this event be followed up again next year at the same venue.

The Guild thanked Smith’s and the Los Alamos Co-op for their cheese tray donations and Don Quixote winery for participating in the event.
