THOMAS ILG
Thomas Ilg of Los Alamos, N.M., passed away unexpectedly Friday Nov. 2, 2012. He died while perusing his passion of photographing the ruins of the Jemez Mountains.
He was born Sept. 30, 1958 in Suffern, N.Y. He was graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. in 1980 with an engineering degree.
He lived in the town of White Rock, with his wife Wendy, the love of his life for 17 years.
Tom was employed at Los Alamos National Laboratory for more than 20 years where he worked as a mechanical engineer.

Through Saturday Nov. 10, Los Alamos County will be surveying residents regarding their option of the Community Broadband Network; a “last-mile” fiber network that will provide open and advanced broadband communications access to all Los Alamos County citizens, businesses and institutions.

Otowi Station Bookstore and Science Museum Shop closed its doors a few days ago having served Los Alamos/White Rock residents and visitors for almost 20 years.
Before that, its parent store, Ojo de Dios Bookstore, served our community many more years.
Bart and I purchased Ojo de Dios in 1990 from Harold Burnett and expanded it to our brand new Otowi Station site in 1993.

Quidditch Comes to New Mexico This Weekend

Quidditch (the game in the Harry Potter books) comes to New Mexico this weekend.
The West by Southwest Showcase will feature a number of university and mercenary (club) teams in a regional competition sponsored by the IQA, the International Quidditch Association.
Caroline Wurden from Los Alamos will be in New Mexico to be a referee for the games. She is a member of Cal Quidditch (Berkeley) and a former co-captain.
More recently, Wurden has served as a referee. She helped develop referee materials for the IQA and is also a trainer for new refs.

Respectfully, I must take issue with the tone of Dr. Tom’s Letter to the Editor regarding the group of parents who met with their representative to discuss infringement of personal liberties.
The CDCs Recommended Vaccine Schedule is exactly that, a recommendation and I personally take their opinion into consideration before I make decisions about MY CHILD’s health.

This is in response to the letter to the editor by Dr. Tom Csanadi, “Vaccines-Elected Officials Should Not Feed Fear and Misinformation.”
There are several of us who were concerned over the recent changes to the vaccine exemption forms through the Department of Health (DOH.)
