Local Company Offers Taxi Service to Curb Holiday Drinking & Driving

In time for the holidays, Los Alamos based New Mexico Wine and Scenic Tours, is now offering after hours (after 7 p.m.) taxi service from the Los Alamos/White Rock area to a number of locations, to help prevent drinking and driving.
New Mexico Wine and Scenic Tours’ taxi service is also available for pick up and delivery to the Albuquerque Sunport and Santa Fe Municipal Airport, Buffalo Thunder Resort in Santa Fe and other Taos, Albuquerque, and surrounding area destinations.

This fall Los Alamos Dog Obedience Club (LADOC) has been offering a special class called the paRENT Free Club or “RENT” free club for children.
Local youth were instructed in responsible dog ownership and how to train their dogs in the class especially designed for them.

Administration Strongly Objects to 2013 Construction Start Date for CMRR Project

In a statement of administration policy issued Nov. 29 by the Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget, the Obama Administration expresses its reluctance to commence construction in 2013 on the replacement project for the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Building (CMRR) at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
To do so would require taking funding from other National Nuclear Security Administration priorities, which would create “undue risks” for other parts of the program, according to the policy statement.

Los Alamos Firefighters responded to a dishwasher fire at about 1 p.m., Friday in a duplex at 3064 Orange St.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the small blaze. No injuries were reported but there is heavy smoke damage to the Orange Street duplex and fire damage in the kitchen area.
The cause of the dishwasher fire is under investigation.

A grey Dodge Ram pickup traveling on N.M. 4 rolled over this afternoon sending the female driver to Los Alamos Medical Center for treatment.
Sgt. James Rodriguez told the Los Alamos Daily Post at the scene of the accident that a witness reported the grey pickup was heading north bound on N.M. 4 when it caught the edge of the roadway and fishtailed across the yellow line.
The witness had to swerve his south bound vehicle to avoid getting hit head-on. The Read More

The annual Kiwanis Breakfast with Santa supported this year by Del Norte Credit Union helps Northern New Mexico families in need.
The breakfast and photo with Santa were free, but attendees were asked to bring non-perishable food and/or make a monetary donation.
