Pace racers try to predict their run and walk times for known course  lengths. Tuesday night, Paulina Burnside aced her prediction on the three mile Turkey Trot course in the Bayo Canyon/North Mesa area.

Food Aid Cuts to Affect 442,000 New Mexicans

STATE News:

ALBUQUERQUE—Around 442,000 people in New Mexico will see a cut in their food assistance benefits this fall, when a temporary boost to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps) is set to expire.

This is according to new data released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) discussed in a new report from the Washington, D.C.-based Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Nearly half of all New Mexico children—42 percent or more than 215,000 children—benefit from SNAP. All of them will be impacted by this cut. This news comes on the heels Read More

Karen Wray Fine Art Gallery at 1475 Central Ave. has announced it’s closing its doors Oct. 1.

Most of its artists will keep their work in the gallery until Sept. 20 and owner Karen Wray encourages community members to start their holiday shopping early this year.

Tomorrow’s Los Alamos Middle School Fall Sports Registration has been CANCELLED!

The registration night originally scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at the LAMS gymnasium has been cancelled.

Arts and crafts fairs come in abundance. The one that will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fuller Lodge lawn, however, is distinct.

The Fuller Lodge Art Center, established to celebrate artists, is running the show. The proceeds from booth sales go to help ensure the Center’s doors remain open. Everything else goes to the painters, sculptures, jewelers, weavers and other artists. It truly is all about the art.
