SANTA FE – The Santa Fe National Forest along with the other ten National Forests in in the Southwestern Region are hiring.
Temporary positions are available in multiple locations across Arizona and New Mexico in various specialty areas including: fire, range, wildlife, archeology, fisheries, and recreation. Permanent fire positions are also available, including: firefighters, engine operators, helitack, dispatchers and others.

Agriculture Secretary Announces Electric System Funding
U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Friday more than $1.8 billion in funding for electric utility infrastructure projects in 25 states and one territory to improve service for more than 37,000 rural customers.
The projects include more than $45 million for smart grid technology, $73 million for renewable energy projects and over $213 million targeted to benefit Native Americans. This funding will build or improve more than 6,500 miles of line to deliver electricity to rural America.

New Mexico Press Women (NMPW) invites entries for the 2014 Communications Contest, recognizing excellence in print or electronic media, books, photography, advertising, public relations, graphic arts, blogs/websites, and academic journalism throughout New Mexico. You don’t have to be a member of NMPW to participate in this open competition.
There are some important changes this year:
- This year NMPW is moving to an online system, which will streamline the entry process for entrants.
- Entry fees are reduced to $10 for the first entry and $5 for each succeeding entry, for members;

Ziva is beautiful white and gray tabby is an 8-year-old spayed female that loves to observe the cat room from atop a cat tower, so she can keep tabs on all the cats.
She was surrendered for not getting along with the other cat in the household, but she has been okay with other cats coming up to say hi, so she will probably do fine in a multi-cat household if given a proper introduction and time to adjust.
