I want a quick and inexpensive update. I’m sure some of you feel the same way about rooms in your home. Take heart, there are solutions – ones that won’t break the bank.

Mountain Bluebirds Spotted At North Mesa Stables

Mountain Bluebirds were spotted this weekend at the North Mesa Stables in Los Alamos. Unlike other bluebird species, Mountain Bluebirds often hover while foraging; they also pounce on their insect prey from an elevated perch. In winter, the species often occurs in large flocks wandering the landscape feasting on berries, particularly those of junipers, according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Photo by Trisha Ancell

By CYNTHIA BIDDLECOMB
Los Alamos

Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) makes it possible for this live action film to incorporate visual magic.

The list of delights found in this film version of the classic fairy tale would have to start with the CGI transformations of the mice, lizards, and goose into the horses, footmen Read More

The Bigger Picture

A.W. Tozer once said, “The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian.”

In the same way that a puzzle’s picture cannot be fully seen without all of the pieces, the scriptures in the Bible cannot be fully understood unless they are in context with the rest of the Bible.

Paul tells Timothy that the holy Scriptures, “are able to make you wise for salvation Read More

Cinema Cindy: ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’

Review by CYNTHIA BIDDLECOMB
Los Alamos

“The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” is an equally entertaining sequel to the first film of the same enterprise. Like the “First Exotic Marigold Hotel” which gained much acclaim in 2011, “The Second” features Judy Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and a few other British character actors, all of whom have chosen to retire in this hotel in Jaipur, India. Their relationships with one another and their adventures in India create the vignettes in this ensemble film.
