June English of Professional Skin Care Choices has been providing skin care services in Los Alamos for 10 years.

“It’s been challenging, but I’ve learned a lot over 10 years,” English said.

Trained as a medical aesthetician, English was confident of her skills, but had never run a business before starting PSCC. She took business classes at Northern New Mexico College before opening her doors. English has built up a loyal clientele, many of whom have been with her for years.

“I consider most of my clients to be friends,” English said. “They come in and we socialize. I get new clients all the time and it’s fun to meet new people.”

English provides a number of services, including microdermabrasion treatments to re-texture the skin, chemical peels and facials. She carries the Physician’s Care Alliance skin care line of products, which are medical grade products. English also carries Jane Iredale makeup products, which she said rival any beauty products in the world. Every six months or so, English hosts a makeover event featuring Jane Iredale makeup with a professional makeup artist.

The latest service to come to PSCC is Botox treatments. Santa Fe dentist Dr. Haley Richie travels to PSCC once a week to give the treatments. “It’s very reasonably priced,” English said.

“The skin care industry is booming because the baby boom generation is health conscious,” English said. “People prefer non-invasive treatments to plastic surgery.”

When not in her office, English can often be found in her Abiquiu garden. “I always wear a hat!” she said. Whether on the links or in her garden, English combats the dry, high altitude climate with her two secrets to keeping skin healthy and young-looking – daily moisturizing and consistent use of sun screen of at least SPF 30.

English hopes to expand her office one day and provide a broader range of body treatments.

PSCC is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and every other Saturday at 127 East Gate Drive, Suite 212-D. Professional Skin Care Choices can be reached at 505.507-0124. Visit online at http://www.myskincarechoices.com/.
