SKI News:

ANGEL FIRE, NM — Angel Fire Resort (www.AngelFireResort.com), located in northern New Mexico, hopes they can relieve a bit of COVID cabin fever by offering families a way to get out and enjoy social distancing in the snow.

The family-focused resort will offer all children ages 12 and under free skiing during February, with the purchase of an adult lift ticket.

“We know this has been a trying year for many families both economically and emotionally. We would love to offer them a mini-break in the Rocky Mountains enjoying the abundance of snow up here,” said Greg Ralph, marketing director, Angel Fire Resort.

Every adult purchasing a new lift ticket at the ticket window will be allowed two free children’s lift tickets for ages 12 and younger. *The discount will be available through Feb. 28 but will not be valid during blackout dates of February 12-15.

The resort has received 10 feet of natural snow so far this year and is celebrating by opening 100 percent of its ski mountain this Friday. As the first ski area in the state to open all ski trails and lifts, Angel Fire Resort will have 81 Runs, seven lifts, and Liberation Terrain Park open to the public by Friday.

“Thanks to the hard work by all of our employees, members, and guests for working hard to have a safe and successful ski season, combined with some incredible snowstorms, we are ready to open 100 percent of our mountain tomorrow,” Ralph said. “We’re excited to offer more trails for our skiers and riders. Additionally, we are doing all we can to make this a fantastic few months of skiing, before our scheduled closing day of March 21.”

Angel Fire Resort announced in early January the start of the 3.21 campaign, which promises guests they will do everything as a company to stay open through the scheduled closing date. By spreading the message of the 3.21 campaign through social media, on resort signs, and by handing out 3.21 buttons, the resort is reminding everyone to follow the safety protocols needed to keep the resort operational through the end of the season.

  • Mask up when in any public space, both indoors and out.
  • Reserve your tickets, rentals, and lessons online in advance.
  • Ride the lift only with your own party.
  • Arrive at the mountain early.
  • Practice social distancing in all public areas and keep 6 ft. between yourself and others.
  • Be patient, be courteous, be kind.

So far, Angel Fire Resort has received 110” of natural snow.
