Shelia Marie Barks, 47, of Los Alamos, NM passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at her home after a valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was surrounded by her family that loved and cared for her.
She was born November 5, 1967, in Cape Girardeau, MO, daughter of Junior and Laura Craft. She and Steven Barks were married June 2, 1994 in Oahu, Hawaii.
Shelia attended Jackson High School in Jackson, Missouri, graduating in 1986. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1990 with a degree in Business Administration.

Salvation Army volunteers will be ringing bells in Los Alamos and White Rock beginning Nov. 27 and continuing through Dec. 23.
Salvation Army funds gathered each year stay in Los Alamos County to help with a variety of basic needs including rent assistance, food, homelessness and housing, health resources, child care, transportation and disaster relief. The funds are managed by Self Help, Inc.

This group of galaxies has been nicknamed the ‘Cheshire Cat’ because of its resemblance to a smiling feline. Some of the cat-like features are actually distant galaxies whose light has been stretched and bent by the large amounts of mass contained in foreground galaxies. This is an effect called ‘gravitational lensing,’ predicted by Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity that is celebrating its 100th anniversary. X-rays from Chandra show that the two ‘eye’ galaxies and the smaller galaxies associated with them are slamming into one another
