Chamisa Elementary Hosts Glow Run April 26

Lace up your running shoes and join in the fun at the Chamisa Elementary Glow Run April 26. Open to children and adults, runners and walkers can choose between a 5k or a one mile course.
 
All particpants will receive glow jewelry, snacks and water. They will also be entered to win great door prizes. An exciting part of the evening is the Underwater Glow Tunnel. The black light underwater-scape will be available to anyone there that night.

Registration For NM PreK Opens At LAPS April 10

Registration for the New Mexico PreK program at Los Alamos Public Schools opens at 8 a.m., Wednesday, April 10
 
There are two half-day programs available (AM or PM, 3 hours each) located at Piñon Elementary School in White Rock. Enrollment for the NM PreK program is by lottery.
 
To participate in this program, your child must:
  • Be 4 years old on or before August 31, 2019; and
  • Reside in Los Alamos County (this program is not eligible for open enrollment).

New Hours For Customer Care Center Begin April 15

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities announces new hours for the Customer Care Center. Beginning Monday, April 15, the Customer Care Center will open at 8 a.m. but will close at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
 
According to Deputy Utilities Manager Robert Westervelt, the Customer Care representatives will still work a full 8-hour day. By closing the windows and turning the phones off at 4 p.m., staff is afforded time without interruption to research and respond to requests made throughout the day, process payments and follow-up on outstanding issues.

Los Alamos resident Ramya Stevens is competing in the 11th season of American Ninja Warrior, a show in which contestants attempt obstacle courses of increasing difficulty.
 
Stevens will travel to Oklahoma City, Okla., for an April 12 regional competition, from which the top finishers proceed to Nationals in Las Vegas, Nev. The season will be broadcast on TV this Summer.

Game & Fish Offers Special Hunter Education Camps

America has already been corrupted by legalization of murder of babies in the womb and has ignored the sanctity of marriage by legalization of any kind of sexual behavior. Now our Congress is considering House Resolution, HR-5, to make indecency legal in the name of equality. It proposes to make it a crime to forbid men from entering women’s restrooms or showers.
 
If we are wise, we will realize that we cannot change God’s laws not to murder (Exodus 20:13), to honor marriage as He planned it (Genesis 2:24), and to behave decently (Mark 7:21-23).

Breadsprings Man Arrested On Federal Murder Charge

ALBUQUERQUE Troy Livingston, 18, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Breadsprings, N.M., made his initial appearance in Federal Court in Albuquerque, Monday morning on a criminal complaint charging him with murdering a Navajo woman with malice aforethought.  
 
Livingston remains in custody pending a preliminary hearing and detention hearing.
