Canyon Road Reconstruction
TLC Plumbing and Utility has reached substantial completion on the project with all lanes of the roadway now open to traffic.
Contractor will be on site completing punch list work with no impacts to traffic.
Drivers are reminded to drive safely and watch for workers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

Hilltop House Demolition
All Rite Construction, under contract with Los Alamos County Public Works, has begun demolition of the former Hilltop House hotel and gas station, located at the N.M. 502/Central Ave. roundabout. Regular truck traffic will be entering and exiting the project site throughout the duration of the project. Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to use caution in the work zone. Demolition is expected to be completed by January 2023, weather permitting. The sidewalk along the site remains closed.

Sherwood Blvd and Aztec Ave
Star Paving Company continues road and drainage improvements on Sherwood Blvd. between Piedra Loop and Aztec Ave.
Sherwood continues to be closed to through traffic from north of Aztec to Grand Canyon Dr. The intersection of Grand Canyon and Sherwood will be fully closed early in the week to allow completion of paving. Please follow detour signs.
Vehicle access is limited to those who reside in the immediate work area and mail delivery, emergency services, trash, and recycling collection. For safety of the traveling public, residents are asked not to remove or relocate traffic control devices, signs, and barricades. Area residents who may have special access needs are asked to contact the Public Works Department.
Work schedules are subject to change pending weather conditions and any material shipping delays. Work Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Traffic & Streets Projects:

Stables Maintenance
Beginning Oct. 31 through the end of the week, crews will be cleaning ditches and re-blading the roadways at the stables. Please watch for intermittent flagging operations.

Sewer Lines to be Replaced on Sombrillo Ct.
The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is continuing a sewer line replacement project on Sombrillo Court with excavation.
The entrance to Sombrillo Nursing & Rehabilitation Center will be narrowed, while installing a new manhole in the area. Drivers will still be able to enter and exit but are asked to drive slowly and cautiously while entering and exiting the parking lot. It has not yet been determined how long the manhole installation should take.
The installation of the new sewer line is expected to take under 30 days. It will occur to the side of the Sombrillo Ct cul-de-sac so traffic won’t be impeded.

LANL: Pothole Patching on Pajarito Road
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, crews will patch potholes on Pajarito Road between Diamond Dr. and Puye St. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.

Trick or Treat on Loma Linda
The annual Trick or Treat on Loma Linda will begin 5-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. The entrance to Loma Linda will be closed to through traffic to allow for safe passage for trick or treaters.

LANL: Paving & Milling on Pajarito Rd.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 31, paving and milling is scheduled on Pajarito Rd. between Pecos and Gamma Ray Roads. Traffic will be open one lane in each direction and speeds will be reduced in the work zone. The project is estimated to last three weeks.

ADVANCED NOTICE:
Sidewalk Closure on Diamond Dr. West of Arkansas Ave..
Beginning Nov. 3 through Nov. 14 Tala Excavation will be working behind the guardrail on Diamond Dr. just west of Arkansas Ave. Crews will close the sidewalk on the north side of Diamond just west of Arkansas. The sidewalk will be closed to eastbound traffic at Urban St. and Diamond, at the Church of Christ, and all access points east toward Arkansas. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured at the intersection of Diamond and Arkansas to the south side of Diamond.
