Little Sprouts Kitchen will offer two Healthy Hands cooking camps this summer for local youth that focus on nourishing recipes and creating healthy food culture.
 

June 17-20 and July 15-18:

It is with great sadness the Whalen family announces the passing of long time Los Alamos resident, Paul Patrick Whalen on April 30, 2019.

Paul was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 1, 1931. He attended a 2-room country schoolhouse for 9 years then transferred to the city high school where he met the love of his life Rosemary Egelhoff.

Global Probe Into Dark Web Drug Ops Nets Arrests

WASHINGTON, D.C. After a two-year investigation into one of the world’s largest dark web marketplaces, the DEA and other law enforcement partners have announced the arrests of three German nationals who operated the site, which sold illegal drugs and other goods to more than a million customers.

U.S. 84/285 Buffalo Thunder Pavement Preservation Remedial Work Northbound; Southbound Lane Closures

NMDOT News:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) continues pavement preservation remedial work on U.S. 84/285 from milepost 178.00 (Buffalo Thunder) to 182.00 (CR 109 just north of Nambe).

The contractor will be milling the existing asphalt and then follow with a heater scarification overlay process.

Monday and Tuesday May 6-7 U.S. 84/285: northbound lanes will have various lane closures and will be reduced to one lane.

Los Alamos County would like to remind property owners that the second installment for 2018 property tax bills becomes delinquent after Friday, May 10. 

Payment must either be made in person at the Customer Care Center by 4 p.m. May 10 or postmarked by midnight that same day to avoid late payment penalty and interest charges.

County Discoveries Action Team Meets May 16

COUNTY News:

The next monthly meeting of the Discoveries Action Team (DAT) is 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16 in the upstairs Zia and Throne Rooms of Fuller Lodge.

This month, the only item on the agenda is for the Place-Making and Place-Marketing subgroups to gather and work on their projects.

Police Shooting Involves Angel Fire Police Department

ANGEL FIRE – The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was called to investigate a police shooting involving the Angel Fire Police Department.

The initial investigation indicates that Sunday morning an Angel Fire Police officer responded to a residential structure fire at 14 Mountain Lake Terrace in Angel Fire. At the scene, an Angel Fire police officer encountered a man with a knife. During the encounter, the Angel Fire police officer discharged his weapon.
