Rebecca Oertel, a Forest and Range Plant Ecologist at the VCNP will present the talk.
Oertel grew up in Los Alamos, obtained a degree in biochemistry, and has worked in the Jemez Mountains Area for the past 18 years as a biologist.

Public Invited to LAMS Turf Field and Track Ribbon Cutting

The community of Los Alamos is invited to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Los Alamos Middle School Turf Field and Track at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.
The ceremony takes place at the LAMS football field prior to the start of the Hawks football game vs. McCurdy.
The new turf and track project started back in 2009 with the LAPS Athletic Department investigating the benefits of a turf field.
Following the construction of the Sullivan Field Turf project, the LAMS football field and track project got underway.

The series begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 with a showing of The Big Year.

On Saturday night, the Reel Deal Theater presented a free screening of the grassroots film Education is Hope. The film was produced locally and filmed in Kenya by Will O’Donnell and Dylan Westfall.
