The Los Alamos Community of Atheists will host a community discussion in room 1 of the Mesa Public Library on Wednesday, March 28 at 6:30 pm. The discussion topic is: Finding Truth: Are Science and Religion Compatible?

Atomic City Road Runners To Begin 39th Season

The Atomic City Road Runners (ACRR) will open the 2012 season at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 3 at the Canyon Rim Trail off East Road (Route # 502).
 
ACRR is a family-oriented running and walking club that meets every Tuesday during the Daylight Saving Time season for a pace race in which members predict their own time. 
 
Anyone can be a winner if his/her finish time is closest to that predicted.

Chamisa Musical “Working On the Hill” a Huge Success!

Chamisa third and fourth graders performed a musical revue of Los Alamos history before a packed audience on Thursday, March 15th.

“On the Hill” shows children, moms, scientists, ranch boys, conquistadores, and settlers from the Hill’s history.

Beginning with the first inhabitants, the ancient pueblo people, the program progressed forward in time featuring the conquistadores, the Hispanic settlers, the Santa Fe Trail, and the Ranch School Boys.

Budget Hearings Won’t Include Individual CIP Projects

At Tuesday night’s County Council meeting, County Administrator Harry Burgess recommended to the Council that, rather than debate the merits of every CIP project seeking funds for design/construction during budget hearings in April, they instead hold a Special CIP meeting May 15.

Recognizing that the need for donations is greater than ever at local food banks across the nation, Curves International is kicked off the 2012 Curves Food Drive on March 1 with a challenge to all Curves Clubs to meet or exceed last year’s donations. Rocky – Pug/Boston Terrier Mix: An adoptable dog in Los Alamos, NM

Rocky has personality plus! He is a very high energy dog that loves to run and play. Petfinder says no kids but he would do okay with older kids rather than younger children.Rocky is a small 3-year-old neutered male dog who came to the shelter when his owner moved. He is friendly, enthusiastic, energetic and is probablytoo bouncy for small children. He is good with dogs. His behavior with cats is not known. Registerd voters assigned to any precinct (1 through 17) may vote at any of the following Voter Convenience Centers (VCC) on Election Day:

  • White Rock Fire Station #3, 129 NM State Road 4
  • Los Alamos County Community Building, 475 20th Street
  • Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Drive 

For the 2012 Primary, absentee voting by mail or in person will be available at the County Clerk’s Office located at 2451 Central Avenue, Suite D between May 8th and June 1st from 8 am to 5 pm on Monday through Friday.
