March 29 at 11:20 a.m. / Police arrested Danny Salazar, 35, of Espanola on Trinity Drive on an outstanding Municipal Court warrant for unknown charges.

March 29 at 9:36 p.m. / A 91-year-old Los Alamos man reported that he was the victim of larceny on Oppenheimer Drive. The estimated loss is $9,000.

Party for PEEC Will Benefit Nature Programs

The annual benefit party for the Pajarito Environmental Educational Center, the nature center in Los Alamos, is being held at the Hilltop House Hotel from 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Sunday April 22.

This is the 13th year for PEEC’s involvement in the community-wide Earth Day Festival with its fund-raising effort.

For the last three years, Felicia Orth has been the chef extraordinaire at the Party for PEEC.

BREAKING NEWS: Local Inmate Attempts Suicide

A woman incarcerated in the Los Alamos County Detention Center apparently attempted to commit suicide in her cell overnight.

“We had a suicide attempt in the jail last night of a young lady,” Deputy Police Chief Kevin Purtymun said. “We called for an ambulance just after midnight and she was initially transported to Los Alamos Medical Center and subsequently transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.”
