TO THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES:

It is my sorrowful duty to announce officially the death of George Herbert Walker Bush, the forty-first President of the United States, on November 30, 2018.  

President Bush led a great American life, one that combined and personified two of our Nation’s greatest virtues: an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to public service. Our country will greatly miss his inspiring example.

Supreme Court Suggests Sanctions For Deficient Legal Briefs In Appeals

SANTA FE The New Mexico Supreme Court has advised state courts to impose appropriate sanctions on attorneys who submit deficient legal briefs in cases.
 
“No appellate court or district court should ever hesitate to return briefing or order rebriefing with a short deadline when briefing is unclear or lacks citations or is otherwise unprofessional,” the state’s highest court wrote in an opinion written by Justice Gary L. Clingman.

SANTA FE – Santa Fe National Forest (Forest) Offices and all Ranger District offices will close Wednesday, Dec. 5 for the National Day of Mourning in honor of President George H.W. Bush who passed away Friday.

All offices will resume regular business hours Thursday, Dec. 6.

If you plan to visit the forest, please follow “Leave No Trace” principles:

Customer Care Center And DPU Closed During Lunch Hour Friday

COUNTY News:

Officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities advise that its office, including the Customer Care Center, will be closed Friday, Dec. 7 during the lunch hour.

DPU is holding an appreciation luncheon for its employees to celebrate the holidays. The office at 1000 Central Ave., Suite 130 in Los Alamos will close at 11:30 a.m. and reopen at 1 p.m. Friday.

The Sangre de Cristo Chorale presents “Stille Nacht” to celebrate the mystery, joy and love of the holiday season.
 
The chorale will host two concerts. The first at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 in the First Presbyterian Church on 208 Grant Ave. in Santa Fe. The second at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at the United Church of Los Alamos.
