WASHINGTON, D.C. Friday, U.S. Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.), ranking member on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, issued the following statement on EPA’s final rule on methylene chloride:
 
“The Trump administration has again failed to live up to the letter and spirit of the historic bipartisan reform of TSCA that Congress passed in 2016. In that law, we explicitly authorized EPA’s work to ban methylene chloride-based paint strippers because of their dangerous effects on both workers

Senate, House Reach Deal On $7 Billion State Budget

The New Mexico Senate and House of Representatives appeared to have an agreement on a $7 billion state budget late Friday after ironing out differences over pay for educators, funding for roads and college athletics.

County Cone Zone: Week Of March 18

New Mexico Department of Transportation(NMDOT) and Star Paving Company will begin roadway reconstruction on N.M. 502 from mile post 1.257 to mile post 2.053 in Los Alamos. The contractor will begin construction and preparation for detour paving.
 
Starting this week: N.M. 502 will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Motorists can expect minor delays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and short duration temporary closures during non-peak hours at the east end of the project in the existing 2-lane section of the roadway using flagging operation.

Los Alamos High School Hockey Team Wins State!

The Los Alamos Hockey Team won State in a tournament played at the Chaves Community Center in Santa Fe this past Saturday. The Toppers play in the Rio Grande Hockey League, which has teams from New Mexico, Colorado and Texas. The Toppers were the number one seed for the tournament but lost a game to the Amarillo team and had to play Taos to get to the Championship game, which they won 3-5 played on Saturday morning. Senate, House Differ On Details Of Hefty State Budget

The New Mexico House of Representatives rejected the Senate’s proposed budget on Wednesday, raising objections related to teacher pay, road funding and the pension plan for public employees.
