Health Department: COVID-19 Testings In Los Alamos April 2

Testing people sick (not needing immediate medical attention) or who have recently traveled.

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH)’s reports a COVID-19 screening Thursday, April 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or while supplies last, at Overlook Park in White Rock.

Priority screening will be provided for the following:

  • People experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 infection: fever, cough, or shortness of breath; and
  • People who have traveled from Europe (to include Italy), China, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Seattle, New York City, San Francisco and Portland.

New Mexico Governor Signs Five More Bills Monday

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed five bills into law Monday, including legislation that authorizes New Mexico law enforcement to apprehend traffickers of endangered wildlife.

Senate Bill 75 makes it a misdemeanor to knowingly buy or sell animal species or part of any species covered by Appendix 1 of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

Governor Orders Flags Half Staff For Las Cruces Soldier

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has ordered all U.S. and state flags to fly at half staff Friday, Feb. 21 in honor of SFC Antonio Rey Rodriguez, the Las Cruces soldier who was killed in the line of duty in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.

Egolf To Recuse Himself From Medical Marijuana Bill Vote

House Speaker Brian Egolf is recusing himself from taking part in consideration of a bill that would allow residents of other states to obtain medical marijuana licenses in New Mexico even if they don’t have a valid New Mexico driver’s license.

In a letter to Lisa Ortiz McCutcheon, the Legislature’s chief clerk, Egolf, a lawyer, said that because he is the lead counsel in an appeal of a court case tied to the bill, he will take an “abundance of caution” in recusing himself from any part of the bill’s assignments, discussion or debate.
