Blue Window Bistro features wine-tasting March 4

The Blue Window Bistro will offer a Wine Tasting featuring the wines of Italy, from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 4.

Certified Sommelier Ben Niedleman and guest connoisseur Tom Hill will provide information and suggestions on tasting.

Tickets are $30 per person and include 10 one-ounce tastes and hors d’oeuvres. Reservations are required, call 662-6305.

The Blue Window Bistro has a loyal clientele and 28 years of service.

‘Leap Into Opera’ event Set for 3-6 p.m. Sunday

The Los Alamos Opera Guild of the Santa Fe Opera will hold a “Leap Into Opera” event from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at 135 La Senda Road in White Rock. Light refreshments wi1 be served.

The program features a concert by the remarkable young pianist Zachary Dreicer-Griego. He is the son of Jarad and Janet Dreicer of Dixon, NM.

Dreicer-Griego is an amazing young man who has developed his talent without reading music. He is blind and learns even the most difficult pieces by listening to music.

The Los Alamos Little Theatre will present “The Giver” by Eric Coble, adapted from the Newbery Medal winning book for young people by Lois Lowry. Originally scheduled to open this Friday,  the play will now open Friday March 2 and run through March 17. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and 2:30 p.m. Saturday matinees. Annual Rotary Crab Fest Extravaganza Set for Sunday and You’re invited!

The Los Alamos Rotarians are set to host their third annual “All-You-Can-Eat Crab Fest” fundraiser, which includes prawns and chicken (for those who don’t eat seafood) Sunday Feb. 26 at Central Avenue Grill.

Festivities for the club’s fundraiser begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar followed at 6:30 p.m. with dinner, music and silent and live auctions featuring golf with a pro, salmon and Asian dinners for eight, spring yard-cleaning, computer consulting, artwork, California wines, jewelry and gift certificates

UNM-LA Fairy Tale Thursdays Featuring La Belle et la Bete

UNM-Los Alamos is hosting the free film series, “Fairy Tale Thursdays” at 6 p.m. every second and fourth Thursday through May in the UNM-LA Student Center Lecture Hall.

The series will explore the rich tradition of fairy tales in film.

On Feb. 23, host, Dr. Mickey Marsee, will show the 1946 Jean Cocteau cult classic, “La Belle et la Bete” (Beauty and the Beast, NR/ 97 min) in the Building 5 Lecture Hall. Marsee hosted the popular Monster Film Series in 2010.
