After 19 years as lead singer for the heavy rock band Spoken, Matt Baird is trying something new. He will bring an acoustic, “coffee house style” show to Los Alamos Tuesday, Feb. 24.

The show starts at 7 p.m. at New Beginnings Fellowship with a $5 cover. Come see Baird demonstrating his incredible voice and God-given breadth of talent as he blends hard rock to softer worship sounds.

Taos Center For The Arts Hosts Oscars Party Feb. 22

TAOSTaos Center for the Arts (TCA), in collaboration with the TCA Film Society, is bringing the 87th Oscars to Taos Feb. 22 with a glamorous evening of music, dancing, food, cash bar and entertainment, plus a commercial-free screening of the Oscars.

The TCA Awards Night begins at 5 p.m. in the Taos Community Auditorium at 145 Paseo del Pueblo Norte. This is a “pay what you can” event where donations are accepted in lieu of a set price. The proceeds benefit the TCA.

“Mortdecai” is the kind of film one attends when in the mood for some light, sophisticated silliness. It isn’t getting great reviews, but perhaps one’s expectations of the film are a bit off. This is an art-heist caper in the genre of The Pink Panther, complete with incompetent thugs, misguided detectives and aristocrats behaving badly.
