The Rotary Club of Los Alamos would like to thank the public for supporting the Club’s fundraising events over the past year. Thanks to you, in that time they’ve been able to provide much-needed support to the Navajo Nation, pack more than 40,000 meals for northern New Mexico food banks, award scholarships to deserving high school seniors, work toward the worldwide eradication of Polio, and much more. Los Alamos Piecemakers Holds ‘How Does It Get From Idea To Quilt’ Lecture June 28

Los Alamos Piecemakers News:

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, the Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild will hold a meeting in Graves Hall at the United Church of Los Alamos. 

Michelle Watts, now residing in Texas, will present a lecture titled ‘How Does It Get from Idea to Quilt.’

Watts will lead a workshop 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 29. her workshop is a stencil class using Paintstiks titled “It s Simple Stencil Class”, also in in Graves Hall. 

Watts has indicated students can use her Paintstiks during the class, and it is believed the stencil is included in the class fee.

‘Spirit Of The Ceremonial’ Selected For Screening At International Indigenous Peoples Film Festival

GALLUP — A documentary film produced by the Intertribal Ceremonial Office (ICO) in 2021 to celebrate the history and heritage of the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial was selected for screening at the Māoriland Film Festival (MFF2022), an internationally-renowned film festival for Indigenous Peoples.

MFF2022, which is the largest Indigenous film festival in the Southern Hemisphere, is scheduled June 29 – July 3, 2022, in Ōtaki, Aotearoa (New Zealand). In 2021, the festival featured 120 films with representation from 80 indigenous nations across the globe.
