Randy Roberts Wins Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt

The Los Alamos Piecemakers held its annual drawing for a Donation Quilt Saturday, Oct. 26. This year’s quilt was titled The Heart of Enchantment; it was a bargello design executed  in purple and sage green fabrics and backed with a cozy purple flannelette.

Bandelier Volunteer George Best Gives Back

George Best may be retired but he still has a job. Every Monday, he dons a uniform and heads to Bandelier National Monument to work as a volunteer.

Best, 93, provides assistance to the staff at the visitor center, which includes answering questions and greeting visitors as they disembark the shuttle buses. The sisters of Beta Sigma Phi will host their annual arts and crafts fair with more than 55 vendor 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Crossroads Bible Church in Los Alamos.

Jewelry, clothing, handmade items and holiday decorations will abound, as vendors help the community organization celebrate its 26th year in Los Alamos.

SANTA FE – Gov. Susana Martinez issued a statement Saturday night following the shooting of law enforcement officers in Albuquerque. According to reports, a gunman ordered a citizen to call police and when they arrived – he opened fire – wounding two Albuquerque police officers and a Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy.
