Los Alamos college student, Rose Lea, is competing for a scholarship and needs the community’s support to win.
Albuquerque’s alternative rock station, 104.1 The Edge, awards one woman the title of “Miss Buck and Dex” annually. Buck and Dex are the headliners of the station’s morning talk show. The winner receives a $2,100 education scholarship, as well as the opportunity to help promote the radio station for the upcoming year.

Y Hosts Scholastic Book Fair
YMCA News:
The Family YMCA is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair through 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. The public is welcome to shop at the Y at any time during open hours to purchase books.
For every book that is purchased from the book fair, a ticket will be awarded, up to a maximum of five tickets. At the end of the book fair, a raffle will be held and prizes will be given out. Grand prize is a one-month free membership to the Family YMCA.

Burrs and the pilot, Mike Fjetland of Harmony, Minn., left the Algona Airport in Iowa last week on a vacation.
Fjetland also died in the crash, according to news reports.
National Transportation Safety Board investigators are on scene today looking for evidence.

Thanks for the picture of the limping coyote in White Rock. He and a more able bodied buddy, have been hanging out in the mornings for some time in the area. They seem pretty unfazed by humans when I’ve encountered them outside my home on the way to work.
These two guys have also been a nuisance at Pinon Elementary School. Several times the campus has been placed in the Shelter-In-Place mode because of their presence on the playground.
Efforts to have them displaced have met a lot of bureaucratic blind alleys. It’s a real problem.
