Los Alamos college student, Rose Lea, is competing for a scholarship and needs the community’s support to win.
Albuquerque’s alternative rock station, 104.1 The Edge, awards one woman the title of “Miss Buck and Dex” annually. Buck and Dex are the headliners of the station’s morning talk show. The winner receives a $2,100 education scholarship, as well as the opportunity to help promote the radio station for the upcoming year.
The pool started in round one with 144 candidates, and then was cut to 70 women for round two. Lea, a Los Alamos native, was one of these lucky 70. Now she must gain enough votes to be among the top 10, and move on to the third and final round.
Lea currently attends Kansas State University online, and majors in interdisciplinary social science with focuses in both business and addiction. She also studies event management at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Lea hopes to use her education to be a valuable asset for her hometown.
Lea is employed at Los Alamos National Bank and volunteers for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico.
