Bandelier Superintendent Addresses Energy Community Alliance Saying Manhattan Project Sites Will Have to be Clear with Visitors
Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott addresses members of the Energy Community Alliance this morning in Richland, Wash. He cautioned that the park service is in the business of telling stories, and it may tell stories that some in the community don’t want told. That could include Nagasaki and the environmental contamination left by plutonium production, Lott said, adding that the park service also can discredit the bad information that circulates. The Manhattan Project sites will have to be clear with visitors about what they will experience in facilities such as B Reactor before Read More

Los Alamos Police have arrested Stephen M. Geisik of Los Alamos and charged him with criminal sexual penetration of a child less than 13 years of age.

The charges stem from a March 29 report by the child’s father that she asked him three weeks prior if he could take her to the doctor for a birth control prescription. She reportedly told her father that she was concerned that she may be pregnant by a 21-year-old man.

COUNTY News:
Many years ago, Frances Arnold, Carol Carlson and Maxine Ellis created a 50 Hikes trail list for friends who wanted to explore our beautiful mesas, canyons, and mountains. The Santa Fe National Forest later adopted the list as a convenience for visitors.
Despite subsequent publication of a number of hiking books for the area, the list still serves its purpose as a quick introduction to the east side of the Jemez Mountains. As years go by, changing conditions require that the list be revised periodically.
