Summit Garden Club Meets Feb. 1

The Summit Garden Club will hold its next meeting at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1, at the home of Susan Larocque, 479 Ridgecrest Ave. in White Rock.
 
The public is invited to attend any Summit Club meeting and program, and stay to enjoy refreshments and conversation. In addition to the business meeting, the February meeting will work on the details of the District Garden Club meeting, which is being hosted by the Summit Garden Club Wednesday, March 23 in Los Alamos.

Pet of the Week: Yumi has had some delays in being available for adoption but she is now free and clear to find a goog home.

Yumi is playful, sweet, cuddly, walks great on a leash and is very motivated to learn new commands for treats. She is about 3 years old and has done well socializing with others dogs at the shelter – but not cats.

DOE Announces $18 Million To Develop Solar Energy Storage Solutions, Boost Grid Resiliency

WASHINGTON, D.C.  As part of the Energy Department’s Grid Modernization Initiative announced by Secretary Ernest Moniz last week to improve the resiliency, reliability and security of the nation’s electrical power grid, DOE today announced $18 million in funding for six new projects across the United States.
 
These projects will enable the development and demonstration of integrated, scalable, and cost-effective solar technologies that incorporate energy storage to power American homes after the sun sets or when clouds are overhead.
