Like many states throughout the country, New Mexico is affected by environmental contamination caused by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The state is in litigation with the U.S. Department of Defense over groundwater contamination caused by decades of use of a PFAS-containing firefighting foam at Cannon and Holloman Air Force Bases.

Secretary Kenney will highlight the challenges faced by New Mexico in light of the public health and environmental threats presented by PFAS.
