The boys competitive team from Los Alamos School of Gymnastics traveled to Rio Rancho recently to compete in the Winter Challenge meet at Eagle Ridge Gymnastics. More than 100 boys from three states competed in the compulsory levels 4-6 section of the meet.

House Unanimously Approves Bill To Protect Mothers And Children

SANTA FE – Today, the House of Representatives unanimously approved a bill that would allow mothers to terminate the parental rights of a biological father when the pregnancy is the result of rape.

House Bill 50 is sponsored by Rep. Conrad James and passed on a unanimous 58 to 0 vote.

“This bill protects mothers and their children from suffering continued harm after a sexual assault,” James said. “It offers a measure of compassion by allowing survivors of rape to sever all ties with the person who assaulted them. The Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers from Los Alamos School of Gymnastics traveled to Albuquerque to compete in the 2016 Winter Fiesta at Precision Gymnastics. More than 600 New Mexico gymnasts competed in this meet.
 
Layla Warner was the high scorer of the day for Los Alamos. She won the junior bronze division with a 37.20. She swept all four events, taking first on vault with 8.90, on bars with 9.60, on beam with 9.40 and on floor with 9.30.
