Letter To The Editor: I Am Also A Victim

I am a victim of the nude photo scandal at the local high school. I however have a different view than that of the “Betrayed” news piece I read earlier today.

I, being a male, have been a victim. At least twice a week I have recieved nude photos from girls I didn’t want. I tried to get away from them, changing my phone number, my Snapchat, my email address. They wouldn’t stop.

These girls seem completely obsessed with me seeing pictures of their bodies. Never did they ask me if I wanted to receive them. Maybe we need to educate girls to be more modest, rather than blame the guys. Read More

PHOENIX  Aggressive and threatening phone calls by criminals impersonating IRS agents remain a major threat to taxpayers, headlining the annual “Dirty Dozen” list of tax scams for the 2016 filing season, the Internal Revenue Service announced Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Tax Forms Now At The Library

Los Alamos County Libraries have received the most commonly requested income tax forms from the Internal Revenue Service and New Mexico Taxation and Revenue. Both Mesa Public Library and the White Rock Branch Library have State and Federal personal income tax forms as well as instruction forms in their lobby areas.

Four local students have shared details of atrocious behavior they say is underway by a group of boys at Los Alamos High School.

They said the boys created an iCloud account at the beginning of the school year “that’s going on right now”. They post nude and semi nude photos of their girlfriends and classmates in the iCloud, which now contains explicit photos of more than 100 local girls. The boys have passwords for posting and viewing the photos.

SANTA FE   As of today, six out of the 10 original Most Wanted DWI Absconders have been captured with assistance from the New Mexico State Police and other law enforcement agencies around the state.
 
The list of most wanted DWI absconders is available online here. Many of these offenders are also violent criminals who drove drunk and either seriously injured another driver or killed them, or they are repeat offenders who are at high-risk for causing a tragedy to occur in the future.

The Audubon Society has been conducting a nationwide bird count at various locations every year for 116 years.
 
This count is called the Christmas Bird Count since it is conducted in December. Learn about participating here.
 
Nationwide, approximately 22,000,000 birds have been counted in 875 areas for 2015 and data still is being submitted. Sixty four people counted 4,770 birds representing 76 species throughout the Los Alamos area this year.

Little League Season Planning Meeting Is Feb. 7

SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos County Little League season kicks off soon and community members are invited to a planning meeting at 7 p.m., Feb. 7 at Zia Realty on Central Avenue at 15th Street.

This season’s registration opens in mid February. Late registration ends Friday, March 27 and incurs a $10 late fee. Teams will be formed by the end of March/beginning of April with practices to begin soon thereafter. Opening Day is set for April 25 with the season running through June 13.

The Ark Preschool will hold a fundraising event, Fat Tuesday Around the World, 5:45-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9 at the First United Methodist Fellowship Hall, 715 Diamond Dr., in Los Alamos.
