IRS Revisions to Offshore Programs Help Taxpayers Come into Compliance

IRS News:

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced major changes in its offshore voluntary compliance programs, providing new options to help taxpayers who reside in the U.S. and abroad.

The changes are expected to provide thousands of people a new avenue to come into compliance with their U.S. tax obligations.

Memberships Available at Pinon Park Pool

PINON PARK POOL News:

Pinon Park Pool has memberships available for the 2014 season. The pool, located at 104 Bryce Ave., has been a part of White Rock for more than 50 years.

Pinon Park Pool offers three types of memberships, based upon the number of swimmers. A one-person membership costs $200 and includes five guest passes. A two-person membership is $325 plus 10 guest passes, and a family membership is $450 and includes 20 guest passes. Current members who refer a new member will receive a $50 credit towards his or her 2015 assessment for each referral.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will continue bridge rehabilitation work on U.S. 84/285 and North Tesuque Interchange (Exit 172) north of Santa Fe near the Tesuque Village at mile post 171.6.  

6 a.m. Saturday, June 21: The North Tesuque Interchange (Exit 172) will be CLOSED, and the U.S. 84/285 northbound and southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane and be detoured through the off ramps and on ramps at this interchange. Fastest Swimmers Sought to Compete in Los Alamos Nick Nogar Memorial Open

The Los Alamos Aquatomics Swim Team invites the fastest swimmers registered by USA Swimming and New Mexico Swimming to compete in the annual Los Alamos Nick Nogar Memorial Open Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6 at the Larry Walkup Aquatic Center in Los Alamos. The Open is a four-session timed, final pre-seeded long course (50 meter), except for the 50-meter freestyle. There are no time standards required to enter the meet.

Triatomics presents free Splash ‘n Dash events June 25, July 9, July 23 and Aug. 26 at the Larry Walkup Aquatic Center.

Swimmers, runners, beginning multi-sports athletes, seasoned triathletes or anyone else interested may participate in either:

  • 400 yard swim, followed by a 5K run along Canyon Drive.; or

Beckie (Bradford) Diven was born in Globe, Arizona, in 1918 and died in Albuquerque, New Mexico June 17, 2014. She was raised in Pasadena, California, and worked her way through college as a camp counselor in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and loved the outdoor life.

Vehicle Impact Damages Rim Road Residence

This home at 98 Rim Road in Los Alamos was damaged shortly before 5 p.m. today when a car crashed into it. The female driver of the car was not injured and no injuries were reported inside the home, which was unoccupied at the time. Los Alamos Police Department personnel and Los Alamos Fire Department crews had to evacuate the entire cul de de sac at the end of Rim Road because the vehicle ruptured a gas line connected to the house. Los Alamos Police Department personnel and Los Alamos Fire Department crews have evacuated a cul de de sac on Rim Road in Los Alamos after a car collided into a house shortly before 5 p.m. today at 98 Rim Road.

The collision was minor with little damage to the house, but the vehicle ruptured a gas line connected to the house and evacuation was necessary as a precautionary measure. Department of Public Utilities crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident shortly after the 911 call and are currently working to shut off the gas line.

As Many as 75 CDC Scientists Exposed to Anthrax After Violation of Handling Procedure

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said earlier today that as many as 75 scientists working in CDC laboratories in Atlanta, Ga., may have been exposed to live anthrax bacteria after researchers deviated from established pathogen handling procedures.
