The school board approved a builder for the Pajarito Complex construction project, which consists of removal and replacement of roughly 6,800 sf of window wall with steel frame, stucco and storefront. It is with great sadness that the family of longtime Los Alamos area resident Marilyn LaForge (Dunlop) announces her passing on August 31, 2020 at the age of 92.
The eldest of three children, she was born to Kenneth and Thelma (Dickens) LaForge in Vassar, Michigan in 1928. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Gerry and Don. Sadly, brother Don passed away just days earlier on August 26th.

FBI: Harrington Alonzo Gets 10 Years For Assault, Firearms

ALBUQUERQUE — Harrington Alonzo, 34, of Pinehill, N.M., was sentenced Monday in Federal Court to 10 years of custody.
In January, Alonzo pled guilty to charges of assault with a dangerous weapon in Indian Country, using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and possessing and discharging said firearm in furtherance of such crime.

This year’s monsoon season has not been a generous one. Streamflows are well-below normal and reservoir levels have been steadily dropping all summer long in New Mexico. Fortunately, we haven’t had a particularly bad wildfire season.
The recent Medio Fire that filled the air with smoke and was readily visible from Los Alamos burning in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains north of Santa Fe was cause for some concern. It received some welcome rainfall and firefighters appear to be gaining control of it.

Y Announces Appointment Of New CEO Chris Daniels

The Family YMCA’s Board of Directors has announced the selection of Chris Daniels as the new CEO for the organization.
Daniels’s selection comes as a result of former CEO Rob Wilkinson’s family relocating.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 154 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County remains at 27 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update announces 3 additional deaths reported in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:
- 24 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 3 new cases in Catron County
- 24 new cases in Chaves County
- 1 new case in Colfax County
- 5 new cases in Curry County

Stolen Vehicles Lead NM State Police To Chop Shop Probe

LOS LUNAS – During mid August, New Mexico State Police recovered six stolen motor vehicles in Los Lunas.
The vehicles were reported stolen from the Albuquerque and Valencia County areas.
During the investigation, State Police officers learned several stolen motor vehicles were seen entering and leaving a residence at 37 Carmel Road in Los Lunas.
