Stolen Vehicles Lead NM State Police To Chop Shop Probe

LOS LUNAS – During mid August, New Mexico State Police recovered six stolen motor vehicles in Los Lunas.

The vehicles were reported stolen from the Albuquerque and Valencia County areas.

During the investigation, State Police officers learned several stolen motor vehicles were seen entering and leaving a residence at 37 Carmel Road in Los Lunas.

Officers recovered three stolen motor vehicles near the area of the residence. Three of those stolen motor vehicles were recovered by officers after they were found abandoned. Two other stolen motor vehicles were recovered after they were both involved in separate vehicle pursuits with officers.

Aug. 14, State Police arrested Johnny Lopez, 32, of Los Lunas, after being involved in one of those pursuits. Officers also arrested Martin Jaramillo, 36, of Los Lunas in a separate vehicle pursuit with officers.

Lopez and Jaramillo were both charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, 30-16D-4, a 4th Degree Felony and Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer, 30-22-1.1, a 4th Degree Felony.

Aug. 23, State Police arrested Celso Molina-Cornelio, 39, of Los Lunas without incident after officers obtained and executed a search warrant for his residence at 37 Carmel Road in Los Lunas.

During a search, officers located a stolen motor vehicle inside his property. The stolen motor vehicle was missing the engine and transmission and it also had been taken apart into seven different pieces. Molina-Cornelio was charged with Receiving or Transferring Stolen Motor Vehicle, 30-16D-04(A), a 4th Degree Felony.

Lopez, Jaramillo and Molina-Cornelio were all transported and booked into the Valencia County Detention Center in Los Lunas.
