Oversight Committee Gives Collective Order of Preference to CIP Phase II Projects
County News:
On Thursday evening, the CIP Evaluation and Oversight Committee reviewed the list of CIP Phase 2 projects that have applied to proceed to Council for Design/Build consideration, and gave a collective “order of preference” listing. The result is shown below.
The list was developed by first taking input from each member of the Committee on their personal order of preference, and then discussing and adjusting the listing to reach and average the total number of points per project.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires a permit on construction cranes any time that they will exceed a 100:1 sloped surface from the nearest point of the nearest airport runway out to 20,000 feet or 200 feet above ground level.
“We are right on the edge of the affected area of the airport,” said Dan Erickson, capital projects division manager. “It’s better to be safe than sorry so we decided to go ahead and apply for a permit to the FAA – we’re hoping it won’t slow the project.”

Although just 2 years old, Betty has had weight problems and is on weight-control food.
The vet has assured the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter that Betty is otherwise healthy.
She likes adults, gentle children and toys – especially if a human shares playtime with her.
Betty is now energetic and playful in the cat room and is house trained.

Arts in Public Places to Discuss Art for White Rock Visitor Center

A meeting of the Arts in Public Places Advisory Board is set for 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday at Mesa Public Library.
Members will discuss potential art for the White Rock Visitor Center.
Among other items on the agenda is an update of information regarding the re-location of “Strange Trio,” a brief update on the “Call for Artists” for the Animal Shelter and a discussion of the remaining work needed to develop a 5-Year Strategic Plan.

Los Alamos Boasts First Photovoltaic System Installed on a Landfill in New mexico
NEDO has begun installing the photovoltaic system on the capped landfill adjacent to the Eco Center.
