BONNY L INGWERSON March 1, 1932 – June 15, 2017

Bonny L Ingwerson, 85 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Regional West Medical Center.

Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 10:00 am at Central Church of Christ with Pastor Lyle Hinebauch officiating. Cremation was held and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the Central Church of Christ for the use in the Mission Programs. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

The El Cajete Fire has burned 1,400 acres since igniting Thursday morning in the Jemez. There are now 424 personnel battling the blaze, which this evening is 80 percent contained.

Valles Caldera National Preserve Reopens Monday

VCNP News:

JEMEZ SPRINGS — Following the emergency closure prompted by the Cajete Fire, Valles Caldera National Preserve will resume its normal hours of operation and visitor services 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 19.

All summer activities will be available to visitors, including the 35 daily backcountry vehicle permits issued on a first come, first served basis. In addition, special use permittees and commercial use operators may resume their projects and business within the preserve.

However, all access to the Banco Bonito area of the preserve will remain closed until further notice. Read More

SANTA FE – As more than 300 people continued to battle the 1,400-acre Cajete Fire that sparked last Thursday from an abandoned campfire, the already-overloaded fire team on the Santa Fe National Forest was forced to respond to more abandoned campfires today.
