FAMILY YMCA News

In 2011, three people a week requested financial assistance at The Family YMCA so their children could participate in after school, or camp, or so they could participate in healthy programs.

In the end, 148 people were awarded more than $75,000 in assistance.

The Y is running its annual Strong Kids Campaign, a fundraising drive to support these scholarships.

A contingent of community, business and civic leaders arrived in Richland, Wash., today to confer on the possible inclusion of Los Alamos, Oak Ridge and Hanford as a unit in the national park system. The Los Alamos Rotary Club’s thrid annual “All-You-Can-Eat Crab Fest” fundraiser held Feb. 26 at Central Avenue Grill drew a record crowd and topped previous years in terms of proceeds from the dinner and silent and live auction events. Crab Fest Chair Skip King, center, and Queen Crab Linda Hull present Rotary President Thurman Talley with a check for $14,412.16 during Tuesday’s Rotary Club luncheon meeting at Fuller Lodge.
