WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) today congratulated its laboratories and production sites for receiving 12 of R&D Magazine’s 2012 R&D 100 Awards.

Contractor’s High Pressure Hose Breaches Power Line

Power was interrupted to North Mesa beginning at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday when a contractor digging with a high pressure hose and vacuum exposed and breached one wire of three phase direct bury electric lines on the east end of North Mesa, according to officials at the Department of Public Utilities (DPU.)

Roy Cope makes perfect prediction on Tuesday’s pace race on North Mesa on the one mile course.
Runners had the choice to run either one mile or a true 5K, but either way their error was adjusted to a uniform error for a three mile course.
The next best prediction was made by Alexander Romero with a distance adjusted 21 second error.

Obituary: Harold Eugene Rayburn April 1, 1916 – June 8, 2012
Harold was born in Campbell, Missouri, the son of Charles William Rayburn and Zola Elizabeth Waltrip. The eldest of five children, he was predeceased by sisters Virginia Paulfrey, Margaret Moates and Doris Aileen Boothby. He is survived by a brother, Finis Rayburn. Harold married Lois Lucille Love on January 30, 1941. After celebrating 66 years of marriage in January 2007, Lois passed away a few months later.

North Mesa Power Outage – UPDATE
DPU News:
A power outage on North Mesa began at 11:18 a.m. today due to contractor digging activities, which contacted with an underground utility line.
About 250 or one third of customers on North Mesa’s eastern end were affected.
Department of Public Utilities electric linemen repaired the line and by 4:30 p.m. had restored power to the area. Read More
Work Continues on Pajarito Canyon/Nail Trail Loop
Ten volunteers worked on the Pajarito Canyon Trail Monday evening and stabilized about a quarter mile of the trail. Photo by Craig Martin
Volunteers are needed for a half-day work session to continue post-Las Conchas fire stabilization of the Pajarito Canyon/Nail Trail loop.
The work needs to be completed before the monsoon season begins or sections of the trail will wash away.

- Where: Pajarito Canyon Trailhead
- Plan: Hike in about one mile and work the eroded side slope section before the entire trail washes away

Early in the morning Michelle Stump set out on the north side of the Pueblo Canyon RIm Trail, which starts next to the dog park near the Los Alamos Animal Shelter.
She had her camera and new wide-angle lens with her and was surprised at how easy and accessible the side trail to Graduation Point was from the Canyon Rim.
Once she had hiked into the upper part of the canyon, before her was a tremendous drop and the view was just magic.
