There will be an impromptu gathering of all Los Alamos Corvette owners at 196 El Rayo on Barranca Mesa at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15.
Green chile cheeseburgers, Nathan’s quarter pound hot dogs, and all the fixing will be on the menu.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet and lie about our cars,” organizer Mike Luna said.

IRS Interest Rates Remain Same for Fourth Quarter

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that interest rates will remain the same for the calendar quarter beginning Oct. 1.
The rates will be:
- 3 percent for overpayments [two percent in the case of a corporation];
- 3 percent for underpayments;
- 5 percent for large corporate underpayments; and
- 1/2 percent for the portion of a corporate overpayment exceeding $10,000.

Chihuahuas on the Run from Animal Shelter

Two very small Chihuahuas went missing from the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter between 8:30 and 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
The canine duo were last spotted at 195 East Road, across from the shelter. They are skittish, but might come to a gentle person who sits down patiently with some food.
The tan and white Chihuahua is named Tequila and the chocolate Chihuahua is named Bonita. Both are microchipped, but are not wearing collars.

Hardanger, Romanian point lace and blackwork are unusual names for beautiful needlework. These and other types of embroidery stitched by members of Pajarito Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA) will be displayed Sept. 15-28 in a case in the lobby of Mesa Public Library.
The EGA is a national educational organization dedicated to promoting and preserving needle arts.
The local chapter meets at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month in Gibson Fellowship Hall of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Los Alamos. Each meeting features a program about a stitching technique or project. Read More
