By DAVID IZRAELEVITZ, Vice Chair“The only time we close is for Thanksgiving.” Many years ago, while traveling through a city I have long forgotten, I had stopped for dinner at a Chinese restaurant, where I overheard the owner chatting with a departing couple. “You’re not closed for New Year’s?” the man persisted. The owner’s heavy accent seemed to thicken with his emphasis. “We only close for Thanksgiving. It’s the only day.”

Trinity Between Knecht and DP Road Closed Nov. 26
COUNTY News:
Trinity Drive will be closed between Knecht and DP Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. This closure is required to safely tie-in a high pressure gas line near Del Norte Credit Union.
This work may be delayed due to weather conditions.
DP Road and Knecht Street will remain open, with detours to Central Avenue posted. No gas outages are anticipated.

Today’s Troop 22 Turkey Roast Moves to 50’s Diner
TROOP 22 News:
The annual Boy Scout Troop 22 Turkey Roast will not be in Rendija Canyon this year due to snow and ice in the area.
American Legion Post 90 has offered the troop the use of the 50’s Diner at 1325 Trinity Dr., for the event, which raises funds for the troop.

Festival of Trees Spreads Holiday Cheer
Auction items at the Festival of Trees held Saturday at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The annual event included a craft fair with a variety of vendors and artisans, holiday medleys performed by local musicians Greg Schneider, Tom Oliphant, Winnie Berry and Frances Meier and photos with Santa. RILEY MONTGOMERYShould a student receive double the credit for doing the minimum work required? If not, why should utility companies be allowed to?
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the Public Regulation Commission (PRC) adjusted a rule allowing companies to receive double, and even triple the credit of a “Renewable Energy Certificate” for using renewable energy resources such as solar, biomass, and geothermal energy.
Instead of a 1:1 ratio of one credit per one kilowatt-hour of renewable energy, companies will receive more certificates for using the same amount of renewable energy. As Read More

Moore has been swimming for the Pajarito Aquatic Club, under the supervision of Coach Phil Coe, and he is also on the 2013-2014 LAHS Hilltoppers swim team, coached by Stu Corliss. Marly Pineda was a New Mexico resident of Bosque Farms, and was a 2008 graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she was a distinguished four-year member of the swimming and diving team. Winter weather has changed this year’s Hunger Walk plans. The route for the CROP Hunger Walk & Turkey Trot is much too icy and slippery to traverse Sunday, Nov. 24, so everyone is invited instead to come to theLos Alamos Middle School cafeteria for a celebration of anti-hunger efforts.
The gathering begins as early as 1:30 p.m. Sunday to collect all monetary and food donations, hand out gorgeous t-shirts designed by Helene Chavez, enjoy some light refreshments, and, at about 2:30 p.m., hold a random drawing for turkeys and pumpkin pies.

The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) has announced that the RTD “Blue Buses” will not be in service Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
